Supporting dental group growth

Neil Carmichael, non-exec chair of the ADG, said: ‘Dentistry is changing. Tomorrow’s world is all about making patients comfortable, supporting professionals and making sure that policymakers understand the direction of travel for dentistry as well as those who use it.

‘We at the Association of Dental Groups have a clear vision about where dentistry is going and where dental groups fit within that vision.

‘The NHS desperately needs reform but it is still functioning – just. But there’s no getting away from the fact that 50% of the dentistry delivered in this country is private. This mixed economy is a complex area, and dental groups play a key role in it.

‘It’s time too that the importance of dental groups was properly understood: in my experience, all of the people involved in groups are committed to dentistry, to patients and to excellence in healthcare. Dental groups are already the place to go if you want excellence in dentistry. I want that to be recognised.’

‘Incredible chance’

He continues: ‘This conference is the next step for us in delivering on our vision. It’s geared to support dental groups to grow: to share best practices, and continue their focus on quality. It’s going to be a great opportunity to learn from experts who can support groups no matter what their plans are.

‘Growth, quality improvement, recruitment – the conference will cover all of these and more. We’re going to give groups the tools they need to go back to their headquarters and deliver even better dentistry for the future. Really, this event is an incredible chance to help shape the future of dentistry.

‘We want to make it clear to all groups that there is a pathway for dentistry to deal with the increasing demands from the modern world in which we live. Patients are expecting more, and rightly so – but we can.

‘I want every group to come to this conference because I know that by coming together, establishing a vision and learning about each other’s strengths and weaknesses, we can all become better.

‘Whether you are part of an already large group, or just starting out, this is an opportunity to come learn how to be even better. I look forward to you joining us in Manchester.’
